The purpose of this study was to develop a prototype prostate cancer software program. The program provides users with information about the prostate gland, different prostate cancer treatments, information on the possible symptoms, preventive considerations, detection options, and support groups. Treating prostate cancer has become a very controversial issue, therefore, this program was designed to assist the user with information needed to make an informed personal decision. It also stresses the importance of early detection with information about the different exams available. The application was developed using the NeXTSTEP operating system. It is now available for viewing via the Oregon State University ftp site.en_US
