dc.description.abstract | Purposes: To increase physical activity and reduce the incidence of preventable chronic diseases among hospital employees by identifying potential barriers and motivators towards effective participation in wellness programs. Background: On average, Americans working full‐time spend more time at the workplace. The workplace is an ideal setting for health promotion activities because of the amount of time people spend at work. A study from Truven Health Analytics reports that hospital employees are less healthy than the general workforce and cost more in healthcare spending. Method: A one‐time anonymous REDCap survey questionnaire will be distributed to advanced practice providers and nursing staff who are engaged in clinical services for a voluntary participation. Administrative and non‐clinical nursing staffs are excluded from the survey. An easy access to wellness programs and incentives will promote participation is a possible expected outcome. Keywords: Workplace wellness, workplace health promotion, hospital employee participation, barriers, incentives, motivators, chronic diseases. | en_US |
