Abstract
Previous studies in our lab have shown that UV radiation causes chromatin compaction in the nucleus. This study evaluated the UVB-induced DNA condensation and how it varies among different cell lines. We examined on human cervical carcinoma HeLa S3 cells, ionizing radiation sensitive and resistant cells,MOC1 and MOC2 respectively.Currently,it is unclear why malignant cells in some cancer patients develop resistance to radiation given to them as therapy. Our findings will be critical in enhancing the understanding of DNA compaction, cell viability, and further contribute to the prevention and treatment of cancer.
