Moving students beyond functional literacy is needed now more than ever because of the constant influx of digital information. By merging critical literacy practices with students’ digital experiences, we can support students in becoming critical consumers and creators of information. Students’ experiences in the digital world can be an opportunity for educators to create a space for meaningful learning that develops democratic practices in the classroom. The article will explore the role of literacy in the digital age, while also offering practical examples for educators.en_US
