Item The Importance of Women as Minorities in STEM Fields(2021) Akingbade, Dora; Anderson, DevenThe goal of this paper is to show our audience, along with opening up awareness, that women are considered minorities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math). We will start by looking at the statistics of women in the STEM field and contacting our previous middle/high school STEM teachers about how they feel about the representation of women in this field. Are women being treated as minorities, or are women starting to feel more represented? Our goal is to share our results with the audience to get them wondering how women are being underrepresented. Hopefully, this will open society’s eyes as a whole in understanding inclusion and equity. We will use statistics and visual aids to get our point across in an effective way, i.e., use examples, statistical data of women versus men in certain STEM areas.
