Item Balancing Money Madness(2021) Traffanstedt, Chloe; Gallardo, Vianey; Austell, Hayes; Allen, BritainyAs future educators, our goal is to teach our students to become good members of the community. For that to happen, they must be able to develop financial responsibility. This skill can be taught using manipulatives, pictorial representations, and abstract models. To teach financial responsibility, we used pictorial models of everyday life examples that represent balancing a checkbook. Students were given opportunities to interact with real-world financial situations that allowed them to solve problems involving purchasing items and depositing funds as they used financial terms such as deposit, withdrawal, debit, balance, and transfer to complete tables. Our main goal was to help students use learned skills to solve financial conflicts so that they can be prepared for the application of these skills in real life.
