In early childhood, fine motor delays can negatively impact the development of hand dexterity, academic skills and self-care skills (Martzog et al., 2019); and are often the target of educational and therapeutic interventions. In order to develop effective interventions that improve outcomes for children with ASD, it is critical that service providers understand the impact of the fine motor delays (Provost et al., 2007).
