Eighty students enrolled in MLT 137: Immunohematology at El Centro College, Dallas, Texas participated in this study. The research questions investigated focused on the student preference, the effectiveness, and the perceived student satisfaction for this method. A case study booklet containing 10 case studies was designed to cover the objectives for the course. The test group composed of 40 students utilized the booklet as an independent study aid. When pretest and posttest gain scores were compared between the test group and the control group, a significant difference in performance was determined by the t test.
