Using a qualitative, descriptive approach, the researchers interviewed twentyeight fathers who previously had an infant in the NICU. Interviews were then transcribed via a transcription company and verified by the researchers. Results were analyzed using NVivo and an evolving coding guide. During analysis, the researchers discovered fathers could vividly recall their experiences and three themes emerged.
