Abstract

This qualitative phenomenological study examined the lived experiences of family members of individuals diagnosed with alopecia areata, a chronic autoimmune disease, which destroys the growth of hair follicles on the scalp and the body. Currently, alopecia areata affects transcribed word for word, and analyzed to establish themes. Three themes and six subthemes emerged from the data: (a) Challenges of Emerging Alopecia Areata with subthemes Seeking a Diagnosis, themes.
