Abstract
The major purpose of this study was to assess upper extremity muscle strength in the adult client with muscular dystrophy. Tools of measurement included the Jamar dynamometer, Osco pinch meter and a manual muscle test. Subjects with Myotonic Dystrophy, Fascioscapulohumeral Dystrophy and Limb-Girdle Dystrophy were participants in this study. The data was analyzed looking for a relationship between the dominant and nondominant upper extremity. No significant relationshisp were found. The author cites the small sample size and progressive nature of the disease as reasons for the insignificant findings.
