Abstract

Study Design: Systematic Review.

Purpose of the Study: To determine if Kinesio Taping has been shown to be an effective treatment for DeQuervain's tenosynovitis or other conditions similar to it.

Method: A search of multiple databases using articles dating back 20 years. Relevant articles and studies are organized according the guidelines set by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) for Systematic Review.

Results: There were ten articles identified that met the inclusion criteria.

Conclusion: There is sufficient evidence to use Kinesio Tape as an adjunct to therapy for upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders such as DeQuervain's tenosynovitis however the studies identified all have design limitations and further research is required.
