dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this non-experimental, cross sectional survey was to determine what kind of financial competencies chief nurse executives identify as expectations in their jobs. Specific research questions dealt with the financial resources for which nursing service administrators are accountable, the types of budget processes used, financial management competencies identified as job expectations, relationship between age, years of experience and the amount of money controlled and the relationship between amount of money controlled and geographic location. Questionnaires were mailed to 962 subjects selected from the membership of a national nursing organization, the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). A total of 359 (37.3%) usable questionnaires were returned. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the demographic data and the data obtained from the questionnaire responses. | |
