Abstract

74 men (30-39, 40-49, and 50-59 years) were tested for levels of fitness and compared to FITCHECK health standards to determine their current health status. Data were collected on tests of cardiovascular endurance, body composition, upper body strength, abdominal strength, and flexibility. Descriptive statistics were calculated and the 1-sample t-test was used to test each of the hypotheses at the . 01 level of significance. This 4-week study found that group M scores fell below the health standards set by the Aerobics Center in Dallas, Texas, in 3 of the 5 tests of fitness (cardiovascular endurance, upper body strength, and abdominal strength). 37% of the subjects were found to have high blood pressure. 100% of the subjects said they would participate in a company sponsored health/fitness program.
