Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the awareness of folk medicine practices of the Mexican-American by school nurses working in a public school district. A descriptive school nurse survey questionnaire, designed by Curzio (1980), was utilized to analyze four research questions. The survey was sent to all 110 registered nurses employed in a large metropolitan public school district, with 78 completed questionnaires being returned to represent the sample. Descriptive statistics using frequencies and percentages were applied to the results obtained from the returned questionnaires. The conclusion of the study stated: School nurses are often unaware of information relating to the Mexican-American culture of the children they are supervising.
