Abstract

Although there is a dramatic increase of Asian-Caucasian biracial individuals in the US, there is a lack of research on this population. Using phenomenology, the purpose of this research was to delve into the lived experiences of Asian and Caucasian interracial couples as they raise their biracial children, in terms of racial socialization. A total of 10 couples participated, and thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. Six themes and 11 subthemes were found. The importance of early education of racial socialization on a family level was highlighted to provide a healthy pathway for children to develop their racial/ethnic identity.
